James Jean

There is work by one of my favorite modern illustrators James Jean. He is an artist based in Los Angeles, California. He was educated at the School of Visual Arts in New York, and lived in Manhattan and Brooklyn before moving to Los Angeles in 2003, and has remained there ever since. He has created work for diverse and prestigious clients such as the New York Times, Rolling Stone, Atlantic Records, Playboy, Nike, DC/Vertigo Comics and Target. He as always influenced me since I first saw his work. His work is so amazing on so many different levels. I most like the way he combines digital techniques with hand draw/paint methods. One of main working methods he uses is hand painting an image in dull colours. Then he scans the image into the computer, then he adds colour to it. This technique is something that I want to try in the near future. For a modern illustrator his work is so refreshing and new. So enjoy.
